‘Flights, routes, products' strategy presented at 2nd High-Level Meeting of China – CEECs Tourism Cooperation
The 2nd High-Level Meeting of China – CEECs Tourism Cooperation took place in Bled Slovenia, on 2nd September, connected to the Bled Strategic Forum. The latter event was attended by more than 700 participants from more than 65 countries, among them a number of the most important representatives from politics, diplomacy and commerce from Slovenia, EU and beyond.
At the pre-meeting of the HLM on 1st September the CEE invitees discussed the topics that were to be presented to the Chinese partner on the following day. Dr. Péter Faragó, Director to the TCC, CEO of Hungarian Tourism Ltd. spoke about the activities of the TCC in 2014 and 2015 and shared with the participants its planned strategy for 2016. On behalf of Estonia Mr. Tarmo Mutso, Director of the Estonian Tourism Board, from Montenegro Ms. Željka Radak Kukavičić, Managing Director and Mr. Emil Kukalj, Manager of the National Tourism Organization of Montenegro and from the Republic of Poland Mr.Tomasz Jędrzejczak, Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Sport and Tourism gave their views on the opportunities and drawbacks of the tourism cooperation from their countries' perspective.
Mr. Mihály Varga, Minister for National Economy Hungary attended the HLM on 2nd September. Dr. Péter Faragó presented the strategy of the TCC, built around the slogan ‘Flights, routes, products'. He pointed out that the TCC would like to concentrate on regional tourism route development and product development as well as contribute to the launch of new direct flights making using its communications means.
'Having studied the latest research results and trends we think that the TCC should concentrate its activity on finding those tourism products which are characteristic to the CEE region, are found in several of our countries and can be explored during one CEE round trip. Such can be city breaks, health tourism trips and round trips that visit UNESCO world heritage sights It is not our aim to compete with western destinations', emphasized the Director.
Reflecting on the thoughts of the Director, Ms. Li Yaying, Deputy Director-General of CNTA talked about the activities and plans of CNTA in relation to the CEE tourism market.
Dr. Ádám Ruszinkó, Deputy State Secretary for Tourism of the Ministry for National Economy Hungary announced the intention of the China – CEECs Tourism Cooperation to be actively involved in the Belt and Road Initiative of the People's Republic of China, thus securing the communication and consultation support of the large-scale Initiative for the tourism cooperation of China and the 16 CEE countries.
